DESCRIPTION:MMHN Board member Capt. Ben Esler\, Commander of HMAS Cerberus\, the Royal Australian Navy’s premier training establishment in Victoria\, will speak about the heritage of the RAN as it marks its 125th anniversary. \nHis presentation will trace the story of naval forces in Victoria from the formation of the Victorian Naval Brigade in 1858\, through the Federation of the Australian colonies and the establishment of the Commonwealth Naval Forces\, to the proclamation of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in 1911. \nThe presentation will explore this rich naval heritage and the important role Victoria has played in Australia’s naval history\, from the colonial era through Federation and into the modern RAN. \nWhere: Royal Historical Society of Victoria\, 239 A’Beckett St\, Melbourne\nRSVP: info@mmhn.org.au
